The West New York Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received an anonymous tip from a resident leading to a drug arrest. On Thursday, December 17th, at approximately 8:13PM the WNYPD were informed anonymously of contact information relating to a crack-cocaine dealer.
The West New York PD Narcotics Unit ran an undercover operation where an order was placed via phone. Shortly thereafter, a party known as Angel Hernandez, 60, of 214-48th Street in Union City, arrived at the coordinated scene where a narcotic transaction was completed with undercover officer. The party was immediately placed under arrest at the site.
Three, half ounce, bags were sold to the undercover officer. Also, the suspect was arrested holding twenty additional bags of crack cocaine and $746 dollars in cash. Police Department Director, Robert Antolos explained, “The investigation stemmed from the cooperation of a resident with an anonymous tip volunteered to the department.
”Mayor Felix E. Roque, MD added, “We extend gratitude to the community for their cooperation and
assistance to the West New York Police Department with this case. Collaboration between our residents and the Police Department is essential to maintaining a safe environment in town.”
The suspect was charged with possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances Crack – Cocaine, two counts of distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances, and two counts of distribution of CDS/Crack-Cocaine within 1000 feet of a school zone.
Bail was set at $150K without a ten percent bond available.
