BAYONNE – The Bayonne Police Department has now entered the investigation of the reported shots fired Sunday in cooperation with the Jersey City Police Department. Three victims were shot, including a 15-year-old.
According to the press release, the shooting occurred at approximately 9:07 p.m. on Sunday, June 21st.
The Bayonne Police Department originally responded to 1347 Kennedy Boulevard on report of a “hold up” alarm at a local liquor store. When they arrived, a 15-year-old male was found on the premises with an apparent gunshot wound. A simultaneous response to the area of Ruby Brown Place by the Jersey City Police Department resulted in the discovery of two additional shooting victims.
The preliminary investigation lead responders to believe that the shootings occurred on the in Jersey City side of the border between Mercer Park, a county park within the City of Bayonne, and Ruby Brown Place. Although at the time of the incident the Jersey City Police Department assumed full control of the investigation, the follow-up investigation has now revealed that the victim’s may have been struck while on the grounds of Mercer Park.
The Bayonne Police Department are now investigating in cooperation with the Jersey City Police Department.
