Car shot multiple times in Jersey City: Gunman at large

Monday afternoon Jersey City Police and several South units responded to shots fired on Ocean Avenue and Wegman Parkway.

Anton Anderson of Jersey City says he was struck from behind by another car that fled the scene.

According to the 36-year-old, he was traveling east on Wegman Parkway and as he turned south onto Ocean heard four to five gunshots.

A green Buick Century sped south on Ocean, colliding with him and continuing south.

A concerned citizen notified officers that a black male wearing a black puffy jacket and blue jeans ran west through the yards between 509 and 511 Ocean.

Law enforcement searched the rear yards, and then continued searching on Bidwell Avenue to no avail.

A passing motorist provided police with the car’s license plate.

Another concerned citizen confirmed it as the same car: A 2002 four-door green Buick Century, stolen on January 1, 2016 from 45 Stevens Ave.

Officers had a K-9 unit assist in the search, which also yielded negative results.
