Hoboken man arrested for throwing knives at pedestrians from window

HOBOKEN – A 32-year-old male from Hoboken was arrested Saturday for throwing knives at pedestrians from his third floor apartment on Park Ave and injuring one, according to police reports.

At around 12:15 a.m., Police responded to 939 Park Avenue and met with the victim, a bouncer at the Turtle Club located at 936 Park Ave, who told police that the male was throwing knives, can openers, and other kitchen utensils at him and other pedestrians. He added that as pedestrians walked by he screamed,

“I’M GOING TO KILL YOU,” according to police reports.

Police responded to the apartment belonging to the defendant, 32-year-old Christian Hoffman, but were met with negative results, the police report states.

It wasn’t until 12:55 a.m. when the officers were dispatched to the same location on report on the same incident, a male throwing knives.

Several officers responded to the apartment but there was no answer, again. Before leaving the scene, Officer Grossman noticed a gap underneath the door and observed a pair of bare feet standing to the left of the door. Police then gained entry to the apartment utilizing the fire escape within the building.

Christian Hoffman was positively identified by the victim, placed under arrest, and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon, and unlawful purpose of a weapon.

Additionally, he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police noticed a glass pipe on his bed and a grinder used to grind crack cocaine, according to the police report.
