You don’t have to be from Irish heritage to enjoy some of the many St. Patrick’s Day events that take place in Hudson County each year. From annual parades to dances, dinners, bar crawls and more – Hudson County know’s how to celebrate the Irish holiday!
West Hudson’s 42nd Annual St. Patrick’s Parade was held on Sunday, March 15th at 2:00 p.m. The parade that is sponsored by United Irish started in Harrison and made it’s way into East Newark and eventually Kearny.
This year’s Grand Marshal, Mikey Gray, talked to Hudson County TV about the many festivities in Harrison and Kearny; such as the flag raising ceremonies that were held in the morning. He even told us who Saint Patrick was! This year’s Deputy Grand Marshals are Jane Atchinson-Mackesy and Gina O’Donnell-Wiltrout.
We also spoke with Mayor Fife who told us a little bit about the events of the day. ”It’s a big event and everybody has a good time,” he said.
Olivia York visited Jersey City’s 53rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade which was also held on March 15th. The parade started in Lincoln Park and ended in Journal Square and featured bands, floats, and tons of residents.
We also visited the Harrison East Newark Elks where Jim Geddes talked with us about the Elks Cars, Elks Shares annual St. Patrick’s Day event. Lauren was given the opportunity to try the exclusive corned beef and cabbage dinner that everyone’s been buzzing about.
Hudson County TV hopes you have a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day!
