Jersey City Man Charged for Allegedly Shooting Himself in the Leg and two other Victims during a Large group Fight

Jersey City police arrested a 34-year-old Wilkinson Avenue man who shot himself in the leg Wednesday night, with two other individuals sustaining non-life threatening injuries, after a large group was fighting on Wilkinson Avenue just after 8 p.m.

Saleem Sims, who fled the scene and drove himself to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, was charged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, and certain persons not to have a weapon.

The victims, a 23-year-old Stegman Parkway man and a 23-year-old Van Nostrand Avenue man, also fled the scene and were transported in a private vehicle to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.  

The investigation is ongoing.
