Jersey City Police Officer Executed when responding to a Robbery Set up. On Sunday July 13, Melvin Santiago, responded to what he thought was a robbery at the Walgreens store at Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. Instead, it was a trap set by Lawrence Campbell, a 27 year old city resident, who was waited for police. Santiago was shot shortly after arrival and pronounced dead on this “horrible day for Jersey City.”
