HARRISON – Police arrested Ricardo Santos, 38, of Newark, who had an active warrant out since November 7, 2014 for previous package thefts in Harrison.
On January 13, 2015, Officer Corey Karas was driving down F.E.R Blvd. near Somerset Street when he spotted Santos walking south. Santos is known by Harrison’s Police Department from previous arrests and interactions. Karas followed the suspect, called for backup, and moments later was able to place the criminal under arrest without incident.
Upon searching the Santos, Patrolman Gonzalez found a pair of wire cutters and/or bolt cutters inside of his waist band. Santos had no reasonable or legal response as to why he had them. Santos also had in his possession a D-Link wireless router. The box containing the router was inside a blue plastic bag. The router also had it’s original packaging on it and it was never opened.
Santos was on video at three different Harrison addresses stealing packages and upon this warrant arrest, he was charged with 3 counts of theft on those individual jobs and possession of burglar’s tools.
Santos was processed without further incident and will be taken to Hudson County Jail.
