North Bergen–On August 23, Jerell D. Lee, of North Bergen, was arrested for attempted carjacking, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and being under the influence of CDS.  Lee had just been released from the Hudson County jail.

At 8:04 a.m., North Bergen police received a call that Lee was attempting to carjack a vehicle at 43rd Street and Bergen Turnpike.  Officers immediately arrived on the scene where the victim reported that Lee ran in front of his vehicle while he was still driving.  After screeching to a halt, Lee ran to the driver’s side door and tried to rip it open.  The victim quickly locked all the door handles, but Lee tore off the driver’s handle.  The victim then sped away and contacted authorities.

Lee was found by police and admitted to being high on PCP.  He then was apprehended and brought to the Hudson County Correctional Center.
