North Hudson Santa Parade brings holiday cheer

“This is my first time going on a float,” says Ava, 5 ½.

Ava wasn’t alone in her excitement at North Hudson’s 15th annual Santa Parade, where St. Nick and Mrs. Claus spread holiday cheer to happy onlookers on the street.

“It’s beautiful out here.  It’s warm, the temperature’s great,” says Francesca Delgado, of North Bergen.  “It’s more floats coming out for this year; it’s more organized – and it’s just for everybody to come out and have fun.”

North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue collaborated with the towns of North Bergen, West New York, Guttenberg, Union City and Weehawken for this longstanding tradition.

“Every year, we always do this for the kids, for the county,” says Firefighter Rafael Albarran, the parade chair. “We figure to give back to the community.”

It was chock full of floats and more…

According to Albarran, more than 15 fire trucks, fire cars, luxury cars and antique cars.

“We have a lot of stuff to offer,” he says.

And for one little girl, the best part about the parade…

“That I get to celebrate the holidays,” Ava says. “Happy Holidays everybody!”
