Police Blotter: Drunk driver causes crash in Bayonne, 18-year-old flees from Police; Police investigating robbery at gunpoint in Jersey City

Sherif Sherif, 32 of Bayonne, was arrested in Bayonne on July 30th at around 5:40 p.m. for allegedly driving drunk and carelessly and as a result, causing a motor vehicle accident at Kennedy Boulevard and 22nd Street. Reports do not say if injuries occurred. Sherif was driving a Chrysler Town-car south on Kennedy Boulevard when he struck a Toyota Camry in the rear and then fled the scene of the accident, driving away on the sidewalk in the process. He was apprehended near 441 Broadway. Summonses were issued for DWI within 1,000 feet of school, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on the sidewalk, careless driving, and failure to exhibit a license.

 

Milad Y. Sharkaway, 30 of Bayonne, was arrested in Bayonne on July 30th at around 6:46 p.m. for allegedly shoplifting $47 worth of bars of soap from Dollar Zone locate at 205  Bayonne Crossing Way. Sharkaway was released on a summons for shoplifting.

Nicholas G. Rhodes, 34 of Bayonne, was arrested in Bayonne on July 30th at around 6:37 p.m. for allegedly selling suspected heroin in the area of 23rd Street and Avenue C. He was placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession within 1,000 feet of a school and possession within 500 feet of a park. He was transported to Hudson County Jail with a bail of $75,000 full cash. Arrested aside him on possession charges was a 29-year-old from Bayonne:

James G. Terracciano, 29 of Bayonne, was arrested in Bayonne on July 30th at around 6:37 p.m. for allegedly possessing suspected heroin. He was charged with possession of CDS and released on a summons.

Jonathan L. Schwartz, 40 of Englewood, was arrested in Bayonne on July 31st at around 2:42 p.m. after he allegedly falsely called the police and reported that he had been forcibly removed from his vehicle and a male suspect drove away with his 4-door blue Nissan Maxima. The incident happened in the area of 419 Avenue C. Schwartz was released on a summons for false reports to law enforcement.

Christine Gunshefski, 27 of Bayonne, was arrested in Bayonne on August 1st at around 6:19 p.m.  for allegedly attempting to steal $40.64 worth of health and beauty products from Quick Check located at 260 Broadway. Gunshefski was charged with shoplifting and transported to Hudson County Jail with a bail of $10,000 with a 10% option.

Charles S. Williams, 34 of Elizabeth, was arrested in Bayonne on August 4th at around 4:17 p.m. for allegedly attempting to take several items valued at $110.72 from Walmart. Williams was charged with shoplifting and transported to Hudson County Jail with a bail of $10,000 with a 10% option.

Damion Baker, 46 of Jersey City, was arrested in Bayonne on August 5th at around 2:14 p.m. for allegedly stealing a package from a porch on East 42nd Street. He was charged with theft and additionally charged with removing a package from a West 34th Street home. Baker was transported to Hudson County Jail. His bail was set at $15,000 with a 10% option.

Two juveniles, ages 15, were arrested in Bayonne on August 5th for allegedly stealing bicycles from a residence on O’Brien Court. The bikes were valued at $220. Both juveniles were in possession of bolt cutters. They were charged with theft and possession of burglar tools and later released.

Otto Schraff, 53, was arrested in Hoboken on August 5th for allegedly stealing several items from CVS. When Police arrived, a search incident to arrest revealed that Schraff was in possession of suspected cocaine, heroin, and Xanax, along with drug paraphernalia, hypodermic syringes, and other prescription drugs. He was placed under arrest at around 9:00 p.m. and was charged with shoplifting, possession of CDS cocaine, heroin, and Xanax, possession of drug paraphernalia, hypodermic syringes, and prescription drugs. He was later released on summonses.

On August 6th at around 5:00 a.m., a 41-year-old Jersey City man was robbed at gunpoint for $400 cash and his Samsung cell phone. According to Police, at around 5:00 a.m., the victim was sitting his vehicle near 122 Corbin Avenue when two African-American men walked up to his car and demanded his money and personal belongings. The victim state the one man was on the passenger side of his vehicle and the other was on the driver side. The man on the driver side brandished a silver handgun and yelled, “You drive taxi’s, give me all your money and your cell phone!” The victim handed him $400 and his phone. The suspects fled south on Corbin Avenue and then west on Pavonia Avenue. The victim stated that he would be able to identify the suspects. Police are investigating; no arrests have been made.

Also on August 6th in Jersey City, at around 2:22 a.m., Police saw a black Mitsubishi vehicle run a red light at Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue. When Police conducted a motor vehicle stop, the driver of the vehicle fully stopped but then quickly fled as the Officer approached the car on foot.  The vehicle ran multiple red lights and stop signs. During the pursuit, the vehicle made a hard turn onto Duncan Avenue and struck a Police vehicle. The driver, 18-year-old Rasheed Raysor was placed under arrest and charged with Eluding and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer.
