Salvation Army, US Probation Office Bring Thanksgiving Early to Union City
Union City, NJ. The U.S. Probation office and Salvation Army have partnered for over 30 years to provide a fresh Thanksgiving meal to the community of Union City. The U.S. Probation employees donate money from all 6 locations out of their own pockets to raise the money needed to feed those who attend- mostly less fortunate or immigrants with no families to celebrate with. The federal employees, along with the Salvation Army, volunteer their time by cooking, serving and prepping for the event that offers two sittings within a three hour window.
When asked what motivates them, many of the volunteers agreed that the feeling of giving back during a time of thanksgiving is worth all the money, time and hard work.
