The Town of West New York hosts a Holiday Celebration for Special Needs Children

IMG_4200 West New York, NJ. – December 22, 2015. Mayor Felix E. Roque, MD and the Board of Commissioners collaborated with a local organization, Winning Angels, for a children’s holiday celebration. Guests were greeted with treats, music and gifts courtesy of local sponsors and volunteers. The children celebrated along with family and elected officials spreading warm holiday cheer. “The special needs children of West New York are fortunate to have Winning Angels providing valuable support to the kids and families”, states Mayor Felix Roque, MD.

The Department of Cultural Affairs, spearheaded by Commissioner Margarita Guzman, worked tirelessly to coordinate the event. “We have the most rewarding and touching Holiday party ever. With the special needs children, we felt what love, compassion and support is about. Thank you Winning Angels for your commitment to the community.” said Commissioner Guzman.

Winning Angels was formed by Spanish-speaking parents of children who have special needs (autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, Down syndrome, and others) in Hudson and Bergen counties. The group meets monthly in varying locations throughout the counties. For more information on the organization, please contact Yolanda Quintero at 1-800-654-SPAN, extension 211.

Cultural affairs I thought the position was demolished or as Joe DeMarco said abolished Hmm that I created funny. Very nice to see them giving back For a change. Was the judges daughter there? Performing? Now that would have been really nice being that she is a special needs young woman but an excellent dancer. I always had Ana Minaya Aka judge Amarilis Diaz’s daughter performing … Showing special “needs”. Holds no barriers.
