“Warming Centers” throughout Hudson County provide relief from the Bitter Cold

Temperatures tonight are expected to go as low as 7°F, with a wind chill of -11°F in Hudson County. Luckily some towns will be offering “warming centers” to help resident get through the freezing night and day ahead. Please see below for a list of warming centers offered in the area.

Hudson County

• The Naval Reserve Center Building: Kearny

*Any night where the temperature falls below the freezing mark, people are transported by bus to the warming center from various on-street locations and municipal shelters with overflow populations. They are allowed to stay in the building overnight.

Bayonne:

• Fire House Recreation Center: 597 Broadway (near 27th Street)

Open: 8:30 am- morning

• 56th Street Senior Center: (at 56th Street and Avenue B).

Open 8:30am- 8pm

Hoboken:

• The Wallace School: 1100 Willow Ave

Open: 8pm until 8am

Union City:

• William Musto Cultural Center: 420 15th St

• 47th Street Pool: the corner of 47th Street and Palisade Avenue

Open: Today through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m

East Newark:

• The senior center: 37 President St.

Open: Today through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Guttenberg:

• The lunchroom of Town Hall: 6808 Park Ave.

Open: today through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Weehawken:

• The Nutrition Center: 201 Highwood Ave

• The Senior Housing Building: 525 Gregory Ave.

Open: Today through Friday, from 9 a.m. until midnight
